Victron Phoenix 12/2000 Smart: run 230V appliances from your 12V battery

Note: this is the 12V model. Victron asks for a battery bank of 350 to 1000Ah behind it, 70mm² battery cable for runs up to 5m, and a 300A fuse fitted externally, as there is no fuse inside the inverter. The 230V output is wired in through screw terminals, not a power point, so it must be installed by a qualified electrician.

The Phoenix 12/2000 Smart turns the power stored in your 12V battery into normal 230V mains. It holds 1600W continuously and handles bursts up to 4000W, so it starts tools, halogen lamps and LED drivers that pull a big rush of power at switch on. Bluetooth is built in, so you can set it up and check on it from your phone. It suits vehicles, caravans, boats and small off grid systems.

1600W around the clock at 25°C, with up to 4000W in short bursts to get hard starting loads going.

Sips power when idle

ECO mode drops it to standby when nothing is drawing power, cutting its own use from 8W to 0.6W.

Bluetooth built in

Use the free VictronConnect app to see battery voltage, load and alarms on your phone or tablet, and change the settings. No extra dongle needed.

 Good to know

Want to switch between shore or mains power and the inverter? Victron recommends its Filax automatic transfer switch, which changes over in under 20 milliseconds so computers and other electronics keep running.

Victron Phoenix 12/2000 Smart Main Features:

High start up power. Starts loads that need a big rush of power, like LED lamp drivers, halogen lamps and power tools.

Proven design. A full bridge and toroidal transformer design that has proven its reliability over many years, in a steel case.

Protected. Shuts down safely on a short circuit, an overload, battery voltage too high or too low, overheating, too much DC ripple, or 230V fed back into its output. It tries to restart after 30 seconds, up to three times.

ECO mode. Drops into standby when there is no load and cuts its own power use by about 85%. It checks for a load every 3 seconds by default, and the timing and sensitivity are adjustable.

Bluetooth and VE.Direct. Set it up and monitor it with the VictronConnect app on Android, iOS, Windows or macOS. The VE.Direct port links it to a Victron GX device for remote monitoring on the VRM portal.

Remote on and off. Wire a switch, a vehicle ignition or a lithium battery BMS to the two pole connector to turn it on and off. The optional Inverter Control VE.Direct panel also plugs in here.

Programmable relay. Set it to switch on an alarm, signal low battery, run a fan, or follow the inverter, for example to start a generator when the battery runs low.

Fully configurable. Low battery alarm, cut-off and restart levels, a dynamic cut-off that adjusts to the load, output voltage from 210 to 245V, 50Hz or 60Hz, and the ECO mode settings.

Wide temperature range. Runs from minus 40 to plus 65°C with fan assisted cooling, with output easing off above 25°C.
