The Sungrow SH8RS is an 8kW single phase hybrid inverter with four solar inputs, made for homes with panels spread across several roof faces. It now comes with the Sungrow EnergyBridge for simple whole home backup.
Each of the four solar inputs tracks its own string, so panels facing different directions all work at their best, and it takes up to 16kW of panels. A 50A battery connection charges and discharges a compatible high voltage battery at up to 10kW. The included EnergyBridge clips into your switchboard and takes over when the grid fails, cutting your home off from the grid in 10 ms or less and running it on solar and battery until power returns.
Main Features:
Sungrow EnergyBridge Included: This inverter ships with the Sungrow EnergyBridge (EB80S), a compact 80A unit that clips onto a standard DIN rail in your switchboard. It does the job of a changeover switch, circuit breaker, energy meter, bypass switch and CT in one, so it frees up switchboard space and cuts installation time.
Whole Home Backup: Paired with this inverter, the EnergyBridge can back up your whole home, not just a few selected circuits. If the grid goes down, it separates your home from the grid in 10 ms or less and keeps it running on solar and battery. When grid power returns, it switches back automatically after about 60 seconds. What runs during an outage still has to fit within the inverter's backup output.
Install It Where It Suits: The EnergyBridge links to the inverter with a shielded Cat6 cable up to 100 m long, so the inverter and battery do not have to sit next to the switchboard.
Works With Your Existing Solar: Already have another brand of solar inverter? The EnergyBridge has inputs for optional extra CTs that measure its output, so your whole system shows in the iSolarCloud app.
Four Solar Inputs: Four separate MPPT inputs, each taking one string at up to 16A, so panels on different roof faces do not drag each other down. Up to 16,000 Wp of panels is recommended, twice the inverter's rating.
Fast Battery Charging: Charges and discharges a compatible high voltage battery (80V to 460V) at up to 50A and 10kW, so more of your solar is stored for the evening.
Backup Power: Rated at 8,000 W in backup mode, with 13,680VA for 10 seconds to cover short surges when appliances start. Switch-over takes less than 10 ms.
Smart Monitoring: Live data refreshes every 10 seconds in the iSolarCloud app and web portal, and an online IV curve scan helps your installer find panel faults remotely.
Built-In Protection: Arc fault protection (AFCI), PID recovery, Type II surge protection on the DC and AC sides, and an IP65 weatherproof rating.
High Efficiency And Quiet: Up to 97.4% efficiency, with natural cooling and no fan at a typical 45 dB(A).
Easy To Install: Plug and play battery and AC connectors, suited to new installs and to adding a battery to an existing solar system.
