Selectronic SP PRO SPMC481-AU: 5kW 48V bi-directional inverter charger, made in Australia
Approved for grid connection in Australia under AS/NZS 4777.2:2020 and currently listed on the CEC approved inverter list. It keeps the house running when the grid goes down, and the same unit will run a fully off grid system, so you can change your mind later with a settings change rather than new hardware.
The SP PRO is the piece that runs your house from the batteries. It turns stored power into normal 240V mains, charges the batteries back up from solar, a generator or the grid, and decides moment to moment which source to use. The SPMC481-AU delivers 5.0kW continuously, 24 hours a day, and lifts to 12.0kW for 30 seconds when something with a motor starts up.
Selectronic SP PRO SPMC481-AU Main Features:
Rated power is continuous, not a headline number. The 5.0kW rating is what it will hold 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at full ambient temperature. There is no quiet derating after the first hour.
Enough surge to start real loads. 12.0kW for 30 seconds and 5.3kW for a full hour, so bore pumps, compressors and workshop gear start without stalling the system.
Charges the batteries hard. Up to 5.0kW / 104A from the grid or a generator, so a short generator run puts a meaningful amount back into the bank.
Generator control is built in. The generator controller is inside the box, not a bolt on. The SP PRO decides when to start and stop the generator based on the battery, and runs it long enough to be worth the fuel.
Exports to the grid as well. Up to 10.0kW with a Selectronic Certified solar inverter, 5.0kW with a generic solar inverter.
Works with the solar you already have. AC coupling or DC coupling, up to 10.0kW of managed AC coupled solar per inverter with a Selectronic Certified solar inverter. Existing systems can be retrofitted rather than replaced.
You are not locked into one battery. Lithium, lead acid and lead carbon are all supported, managed or self managed, with charging set points you can tune. Check the current compatible battery list on the Selectronic website before you order.
Grows as the site grows. Up to four SP PRO units per phase, in single, dual, split or three phase, so a house today can become a farm shed and a workshop later.
Set up with a wizard, not a manual. SP LINK configuration and monitoring software is included, with a built in wizard for commissioning and up to 2.5 years of logged data on board.
Australian made and Australian supported. Designed, built and supported in Victoria since 1964, with firmware updates that are typically backward compatible so the system does not age out.
Five year warranty, ten with monitoring. Five years as standard in Australia and New Zealand, extending to ten years when the system is registered with Select.live monitoring. Conditions apply, see the Selectronic website for the current terms.
